AN OUTLINE
The Eden Killer Whale Museum has been in operation for some seventy
five years. The museum is managed by a small, enthusiastic voluntary
committee.
The members of the committee are justly proud of the progress that has
been achieved over the past two decades.
1. The museum is a publicly owned facility.
2. The building is situated on a hillside overlooking the
Pacific
Ocean where, in the season, whales may be seen from the various vantage
points.
The Committee receives no subsidy for ongoing operational costs of
the Museum. Special purpose grants are applied for regularly with
occasional
success.
Cash donations to the museum are tax deductible. Donations of artifacts
or other relevant objects to the museum, can attract taxation benefits
under Australian Tax – program guidelines.
The committee has, as its number one objective, the goal of
implementing
best museum practices, while providing entertaining and educational
presentations
to its visitors together with making them as comfortable as possible.
Over the years, a programme of touring exhibitions has been pursued
with success and this, together with regular updating and changing
existing
exhibitions, plus our own Special Exhibition Programme, combine to
present
a different perspective, for the regular visitor.
Facilities for the disabled include toilet, parking bay, ramps and
the provision of a wheelchair, should any visitor require one.
The committee is conscious of children and as such, exhibitions and
hands on displays appealing to our younger visitors, are included in
the
agenda, where possible.
The Eden Killer Whale Museum is a progressive institution,
becoming
increasingly recognised as such throughout the museum and gallery
community
of Australia.
